Corrections, sources and research leads
If you identify a factual error, missing reference, outdated status or better source, send the information with enough detail for verification. Useful submissions include the site name, location, source title, publication date, page or section, and a short explanation of what should be corrected.
Please do not send archaeological artifacts or sensitive location information that could facilitate unauthorized digging or collecting.
What makes a useful submission?
- A verifiable source rather than an unsourced claim.
- Clear distinction between observation and interpretation.
- Correct spelling and location details.
- Image credits and licensing information when photographs are supplied.
What to expect after you write in
Factual correction
Corrections with a clear source are the easiest to act on. Include the record name, the exact claim, your proposed wording and the reference supporting it.
New record suggestion
Provide the site name, location, heritage type, approximate period and at least one institutional or scholarly source. New records without a verifiable source cannot be added.
Image credit or license issue
If an image is used without correct attribution or you hold rights to an image and want it removed, include the file name or record and the specific concern.
Partnership or research collaboration
Universities, museums, heritage NGOs and conservation teams are welcome to propose collaboration; include your institution and the nature of the proposed contribution.
Response times vary since this is a small independent project. Complex corrections involving disputed chronology or conflicting sources may take longer to review.
